When a no carbs diet may be acceptable

Many low carbohydrate programs are based on the assumption that all people are carbohydrate sensitive or resistant to insulin. My research and experience has proven the opposite – that most people simply lose fat by lifting weights, doing cardio, eating less than they burn and “cleaning up” their diets. In other words, no carbs diets should be looked at as “last Resort” diets or “peaking” diets for special events such as bodybuilding, fitness competition or a photo shoot. A low carb diet plan

Carbohydrate reductions are helpful and effective at certain times and under certain circumstances for speeding up fat loss. Here are the three situations where a no carb diet may be appropriate: .

1. If you are a carb-sensitve (endomorph) type

From my experience working with many clients, I would estimate that about 70%-80% of people will lose fat on a healthy balanced diet with little or no carbohydrate restriction . That leaves 20% to 30% who don’t respond well to the conventional high carbohydrate, low fat approach. Even when we have tried a low fat, low calorie plan combined with a regular exercise regime these people tend not to respond as hoped and find it difficult to lose fat. In these circumstances a low carb with a higher protein and fat intake can be the solution for these carb sensitive people  .

2. Breaking a fat loss plateau

It is very normal for people on diets to have fantastic results for a certain period then all at once the fat stops moving  . The reason behind this is that when you restrict calories there is eventually some negative impact on your metabolism. The longer and more severe you diet the worse your metabolism is hit . In the end.

3. Bodybuilding, fitness or figure competition

There is still a lot of debate surrounding no carb diet, but if you ask most bodybuilders and fitness models they will tell you they use them . Some will probably be more restrictive than others but all the successful bodybuilders I have researched have admitted to using no carb diets in some form to get shredded and lean for competitions and magazine photo shoots . If the low carbohydrate diet didn’t work, then you wouldn’t see male and female bodybuilders peak at very low levels of body fat . normal. Bodybuilders have known this for years and that’s the reason they are able to get so lean, year after year, contest after contest..
