Can digital audio mixers are classified as "video editing equipment?
I'm starting my small business in post-Production I wonder if I should buy a digital audio mixer. Would it help me get a better sound quality, and Adobe Soundbooth (audio software that I have) good enough for what I need? Basically, would it be worth the money or should I spend that 3-5K elsewhere? Thanks for any help you can provide!
If you are looking to enhance their quality, a mixer is not a bad idea. You can capture audio directly and master each track individually. It also helps to give your sound a better sense of stereo. I was not going to spend 3-5K in a blender … For video output, a 4-8 small simple mixer XLR preamp should do very well, if you have an interface (if the console itself does not have one). This way you can only connect your microphone and record each song at the same time. I bought mine (8 XLR preamp, 16 1 / 4 "jacks) for a little over 200.
