Who are some of the leading agents and casting Directors in NY?
I am looking for a way to start networking within the industry acting and I thought I should start by being well informed of local casting directors. Please let me know if you know of any casting director or any Production methods of networking.
The best way to learn about casting directors, is watching TV! Be sure to read credits – so you know who did the casting for the series. You can also use google or imdb.com to connect with the office of quality shows. Or you can get a copy "Call Sheet" (formally known as the "Ross Report") of your local library. It lists the talent agent, manager and casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. And often, they indicate where they show the casting director is currently working. As for networking, if you are being represented by a talent agent, then most of the time, the networking agent comes from relationshp with the casting director. Otherwise, you can attend Casting the Director of Classes and Workshops – only to learn the process of how hearing people, and what you are looking for actors. There are many places offering the Casting Director workshops – I have listed some of the more popular under "source" for example, offers seminars ActorsConnection.com 1 day, where talent can meet and play in front of a casting director or talent agent. It is a quick way to set the face time "with them. Or, the most effective way would be take a class with them. This can be 2, 4, or even a class of six weeks.
