Can you reduce your tax on income from employment if you are also a small business owner?
I recently start a lounge, business center and a Spa with a partner. The company is incorporated. Since this is a new company it is very difficult to turn any kind of profit in those months. I decided to start working also my profession as an engineer at ATS. I am currently is taxed very high at 34% rate. Currently much of my income from work is enter my small business. – Can I enter into a tax bracket low income with ATS indicating that I am also a small business owner? – Can I reduce my taxes on my employment from the expenditure incurred from The Spa? – How can I improve my situation? Please Please note: I live in Ontario, Canada. If company and tax laws can vary with the United States.
I am not in Canada, so I do know your tax laws. Here is what I would do the United States. The United States has an S-Corp company structure that allows the protection of a corporation, but tax to pay through the flow of your income tax (You do not pay corporate tax, you only pay taxes on personal income or loss of the company.) In this case, you will depreciate each year every penny of loss of the show. If you can find a legal structure for the show that you can pass-through tax status of your personal taxes (while maintaining the integrity of your partnership), then I'd sell your partners on the conversion.
