North London Rivals Share Similarities In More Ways Than One

The stadium in London will be the scene of the highly anticipated North London derby live online stream EPL match as the two teams will have much on the line where they cannot afford to fail. For Spurs, the timing could not have been better according to manager Harry Redknapp. It will be a real test for them as they are now in danger of ending the season with nothing to show for it in the Premier League, following the defeat in the FA Cup. More importantly, they are still in search of the fourth Champions League spot awarded to English clubs. Spurs were in prime position only just a few weeks back but have since been overtaken by the excellent form shown by Manchester City, and their manager will need to cajole his players to pick themselves up and become competitive again. The prize of a place in the Champions League becomes even more important and sacred with the club’s failure to capture the FA Cup. In terms of their long term future, Redknapp will be hoping that another failure this season will not mean a serious rebuilding of a squad torn apart by unfulfilled aspirations.

Arsenal find themselves in a similar spot of bother. The past two weeks have seen the Gunners fall from the heights of ecstacy to the depths of despair. The club had fought their way back into the title race and were full of hope in the Champions League. While the former has been kept alive through the inadequacies of Chelsea and Manchester United, Arsene Wenger was forced to eat humble pie in Europe. However, for the team to still be in contention for the domestic title already speaks volumes of the team’s strength of character after numerous setbacks. And there is no better time to prove that to the critics by beating their North London derby opponents that will thrust them back into prime position to deny Chelsea the title. What will affect their chances in the end would be a lenghtening injury list that has laid low some of the club’s best players.

Hardly anyone dares to make a derby prediction as they are highly unpredictable. Other than the blip in the FA Cup, where they lost to relegated Portsmouth, Spurs have generally played well recently. Arsenal have been getting the results required in the Premier League, but most of them have been procured after suffering on the pitch. If they can beat Spurs again with a last minute winner from one of their players, Arsenal will accept the result with both hands. If nothing, champions from every era have shown that success against adversity is the mark of one. Arsenal manager Wenger would prefer a much easier path. To end the season without a place in the Champions League after showing the Greatest of promise could be devastating for Spurs’ future as a club that has evergrowing ambition.
