The Rise of Nigeria Nollywood
Nollywood is the name of the film industry in Nigeria. Movies and TV shows do not exist in Nigeria before of the 1960s. Since then, the government has encouraged the growth of television broadcasting with strong support. In the 1980s, all states of Nigeria has its own station. This sets the stage for TV programs and movies productions. In a few decades, Nollywood has surpassed all expectations.
Movies produced by Nollywood are very different from those produced by Hollywood. In Hollywood, they are easily accessible studios equipped with the latest technology and accessories for easy shooting movies. However, in Nigeria, Film Production can take place everywhere – in homes, hotels publicly areas. As such, Nollywood Films are highly dependent on two things to be successful – a strong story and great actors and actresses.
In fact, in many Africa, Nollywood films than to films made by Hollywood. That's because the audience can relate better to the content in the films. Nigerian Directors are also quick to adopt any technology and techniques to shoot the next higher quality movies. In fact, they are well known for its innovative techniques of film production.
Fast forward to today, is not uncommon to see Nigerian films gaining popularity very quickly – thanks Internet. The Internet has leveled the playing field for all major actors in the film industry by allowing Internet users to gain access to The Movies. With only one browser and a broadband connection, anyone can log on to a film website and watch a Movie in real time. This means that anyone with A Great Movie can compete for the attention of moviegoers. No matter if the movies come from Hollywood, Bollywood and Nollywood. If it's a great movie, Fans can talk about it online, and will gain popularity very quickly.
In part this is due to the viral nature of Internet. It's so simple to share anything on the Internet these days. You can share bookmarks, digital files, music files and even video clips.
With the emergence of social websites, Internet users are able to transfer movies to express their own opinions, and share links with other friends in your network. If a film is bad, be sure the community knows about it very quickly. If it's good, prepare to experience the full force of the viral effect.
As the Internet continues growing at an unprecedented speed, Nollywood is growing with it too. That means that the industry needs talented actors and actresses to meet growing demand Nollywood films. These actors and actresses can become famous and gain fans quickly. Fans will be able to gossip about their idols online – What they like or dislike of an Actor or Actress. Actors and actresses may act on the information to improve their acting skills.
By the way, Nollywood is a powerful force for lifting count. With his group of entrepreneurs and talented actors and actresses, directors, Nollywood looks set to become a power house in the industry film.
