And master filmmakers shooting
An old-school director of photography shared a pearl of wisdom film that impressed me long before ever shooting my first scene of the Movie. They said that no matter what type of camera shot impressive might want to experiment with a film director (I call it a shot "marvel") teacher firing a shot always simple. Avoid too fancy or cute with it.
He advised me to always shoot a shot or two with a master shot if his "wonder shot" does not work. The vaccine against the teacher is used to cover most or all of a scene including the actors. It can be as simple as locking down the camera on a tripod for a static shot. Or hand is held with the camera to follow the action. You do not get about the details of a scene, but a master shot guarantees you will have covered the whole scene of post-Production.
Know who has a master shot gives you much more flexibility as a filmmaker to be creative, take risks and experiment with a stage with the rest of you making time for. During filming my first film that uses some "wonder shot" in the hope that, in turn, as I imagined. He dreaded the idea of being in post-production when editor informs me that a scene can not be cut as a whole or not feasible.
I'm always a little nervous after filming a show, because I know post-production reveal errors during production. Nothing is perfect when making movies. What an independent filmmaker hopes to avoid at all costs is day again shooting. I work with independent film budgets rarely allow for reshoots. What you get for the first time during the shooting is what has to be edited. In general, there is not enough money to go back to reshoot a scene to solve a problem.
Of course some of the "wonder shot" I have chosen to film scenes did not go as I expected. Some of the calls you made as a director just did not work. What saved the day? The master shots that were simple and not fancy.
It turns out that the master shots that I thought would never use in post-production (because surely all of my "wonder shot" function) was work when ever there was trouble editing. The editor was able to use vaccines to replace my master "wonder shot" and keep the show on track during the final edit.
The other side of the story are some of the shots "wonder" that he had taken occasionally worked beautifully. There is nothing like listening to an editor say, "great camera angles" or "loved the way they shot that scene." The mind of the editor is now free from having to fight with a scene to work. Instead they have pictures that can be edited in a visual scene strong.
Master shots are not sexy or attractive, but can become a lifeboat when a filmmaker is evident in the post-production of a camera movement did not work. On a budget of a film indie is important for a film director of all the scenes as much as possible. independent filmmakers covering a scene in a narrow your choices. Never shy away from shooting shot "wonder", but the balance with a master shot to cover your back in the post-production. This is indie director Sid Kali writing JUMP CUT.

Saturday Night Fever (30th Anniversary Special Collector’s Edition) $3.99 Saturday Night Fever is one of those movies that comes along and seems to change the cultural temperature in a flash. For all that, the story is conventional: a 19-year-old Italian-American from Brooklyn, Tony Manero (John Travolta), works in a hu… |
