The Dolphins are one of the dark horse candidates in NFL betting probabilities at the sportsbooks online to win the Super Bowl.
They are 23.5 to 1 in Super Bowl probabilities and they are 4-1 to win a difficult AFC East. The Dolphins kick off the preseason as NFL preseason gambling favorites at home on August 14th versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
NFL preseason odds will probably list Miami as underdogs in Week 2 against Jacksonville while they should be favorite in Week 3 at home against Atlanta. They will likely be road long shots in their final preseason competition, which is at Dallas.
Two years ago, the Dolphins surprised everyone in NFL preseason odds but a year ago they slipped back. Miami might rebound this season in the AFC East since they still have plenty of skill. It is not an simple division though with New York and New England. The Miami Dolphins win by racing the ball and halting the run. This year they acquired top wide receiver Brandon Marshall from Denver so they will look to throw it a bit more.
Marshall, also known as “The Beast”, is notorious for being one of the toughest players in the NFL to take down. He’s well-known for his capacity to break and dodge tackles. In fact, it’s been stated by Kansas City’s Brandon Flowers that Marshall likes to be tackled so he can basically push off the other player and get more yards. He’s one of only five participants in NFL history to catch at least 100 passes in 3 sequential seasons. He has furthermore been involved with a series of run-ins with the law, which includes assaulting a police officer, domestic violence, driving under the influence and misdemeanor battery. He was exchanged to the Dolphins in exchange for a second round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and a second round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
If quarterback Chad Henne goes on to get better then the Miami offense might be potent. With Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, the Dolphins have a quite good running back combination.
The defense has been turned over to Mike Nolan who comes over from Denver. He will look to make Miami more of an attacking defense.
Miami has some outstanding linebackers in Channing Crowder and beginner Karlos Dansby who they got from Arizona. Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Yeremiah Bell make up their solid secondary. Dan Carpenter, who missed only 3 field goals all season, is an outstanding kicker for the Dolphins.
Despite the fact that the Jets and Patriots will get more recognition in NFL preseason betting, the Dolphins are pretty capable of winning the AFC East. Living through the early part of the season will be the crucial for Miami in 2010. They have a very tough slate. They simply need to win their opener at Buffalo. They go to Minnesota after that match and then host the Jets and Patriots. They get a bye week and then go to Green Bay, host the Steelers and then travel to Cincinnati and Baltimore. Other than the opening match at Buffalo, there’s no simple match in the 1st half of the season for the Miami Dolphins.
