Has the Premier League Top Four Changed for Good?

Chelsea and Man U can claim that they are both now sitting atop the football hierarchy in England after both sharing the spoils over the past five years. Alongside the emergence of Chelsea, Man U have simply continued the form that has been with them since Ferguson’s dream boys in the mid nineties. Man U’s squad over the past fifteen years has been defined by key talismen who started their careers at the team like Paul Scholes.

Man U are famous for excelling when under pressure, a quality other teams seem to lack, they can always overturn a goal deficit to make a spectacular comeback. Chelsea on the other hand are newer to success, their upsurge in results in 2003 was initially attributed to Billionair owner Roman Ambramovich’s spending power after revamping the squad. Detractors have been silenced in recent years however as Chelsea’s squad has remained largely unchanged by big money buys.

Chelsea are strong on every area, from the rock solid defense patrolled by the fearless Terry, the quick, inventive midfield lead by Lampard and the agile yet brutal attack spearheaded by arguably the bets player in the world, Didier Drogba. The 2010 Premier League season as followed the trend of the last few years. Chelsea are currently top by some margin but top four Stalwarts Man U and Arsenal are staying well in touch.

The top four which was once comprised of the two aforementioned giants as well as Liverpool and Arsenal seems to have lost one its members. Liverpool are in dire straights both on and off the pitch at the moment and are in deep trouble with issues like immediate loans, a series of missed payments and personal loans or Prestamos inmediatostanda and creditos personales as Benitez would have said.

This shaking up of the order is perhaps the biggest story of the 2010 season and represents a shift in the footballing superpowers. Spurs have gained a massive amount of ground on their rivals, the squad really coming together and proving their mettle in the Champions League. 2010 looks set to be another sterling season, providing Chelsea can be caught.
