Gambling Odds on Portugal vs North Korea For 2010 FIFA World Cup

Being a World Cup online sportsbooks betting contender isn’t 1 of the several things that North Korea is known for. Nonetheless, there was reason to think that this squad had a shot at the sportsbook to string out its 2010 World Cup betting appearance for more than just the minimum 3 games after watching an impressive showing versus 5-time World Cup probabilities champ Brazil in its 1st match in an international soccer betting competition in five decades.

Style points aside, the North Koreans were very efficient against the Samba football giants and played the favorite in the World Cup probabilities to a 0-0 draw at halftime, though of course, North Korea will never be accused of playing the ‘Beautiful Game’.

Obviously the Brazilians found their stride in the 2nd half and won the game 2-1. But even with a loss the North Koreans still grabbed a goal which may have been substantial if they held their next 2 foes (Ivory Coast and Portugal) scoreless in their upcoming World Cup wagering matches.

It should also be noted that the Brazilian’s 1st goal, a screamer by celebrity Maicon, may only be remembered as the finest goal for the complete 2010 World Cup odds action when it’s all said and done. He launched a curler from behind the goal on the left that started out left prior to curving back into the net from an apparently unattainable angle. If Maicon would have missed that incredible shot the game would have concluded a 1-1 draw and North Korea would have been even on top of the World Cup gambling standings in Group G with 1 point.

The North Koreans kept the game close by playing what most soccer gambling supporters consider a terrible game plan. The Korean team plays with five men back with three protective midfielders also hanging back to defend. It may be unpleasant, but it is effective and it is very reminiscent of the match plan that tiny Greece employed in the 2004 Euro Cup wagering event as they went on to grab the title over much more talented teams.

So it’s awesome and pretty embarrassing how badly Paraguay defeated the North Korean squad, especially taking into account that Paraguay isn’t nearly the powerhouse that Brazil is. In fact, the final score of 7-0 has done much to enhance Paraguay’s confidence in themselves as a team. After the match, they were feeling pretty delighted with themselves. And after a string of less than outstanding games, they likely earned it.

North Korea, for their part, is not going to qualify for the second round. However, the North Korean coach, Kim Jong-hun, said that they were not planning on just lying down. He said the team would carry on to compete for their honor. Because the game won’t matter as much to them as it does to Ivory Coast, it might prove to be an appealing watch. The North Korean team basically doesn’t have anything to lose at this point.

North Korea did win several admirers with their game with Brazil, even though they will not win this year’s World Cup betting title. It’s a waste this game with Portugal damaged that image as badly as it did.
