Here's the question: In New Zealand, the cars on the road must have a obtaining current fitness and recorded. A recent newspaper article contained the following statement: "80% of cars on the roads New Zealand has a license to obtain the skills and 90% have been recorded. "In response to the article from the local police decided to investigate the situation in your city. They consider that a registration and a warrant of fitness are independent. A police officer stationed in the main street, and fines given to motorists found violating any of these requirements. In peak hours, 200 vehicles are expected to pass through the main street. (A) The use of probability theory to calculate the number expected drivers of peak hour traffic to be fined. (B) Use theoretical probability to estimate how many of the 200 vehicles are expected to have no Warrant of Fitness and are not registered.
My Answer: 80% have 90% WOF WOF has been no registration is 90% -80% = 10% without any is both 100% -90% = 10% (a car) without WOF is 100% -80% = 20% (40 cars) cars without registration is 100% – 90% = 10% (20 cars) in total of 60 cars will be fined. (B) without both cars is 10% (20 cars)
