Did you know that one of the worst things for your fur coat is wearing it in your vehicle? Even though furs are robust, fur jackets don’t handle well with rubbing or crushing, both of which happens in your vehicle. The hairs of your fur jacket get wedged in the material of your car seat and as a result, wears out the fur.
Of course, leather seats are less damaging than fabric type of car seats, but if you anticipate to sit on your fur jacket, the flattening and friction will ultimately harm your fur. But there are things you can do:
1) Avoid sitting on your fur jacket on long drives. On extenisive drives, it is recommended that you remove your fur and wear it over you like a drape.
2) Get a car seat that has a nylon cover. This is almost certainly the best advice to shelter your fur coat or fur jacket. Instead of getting caught into the car seat, the fur glides over the nylon cover, protecting it at the same time.
Regrattably, if your fur coat has been damaged by your car seat, there is very little you can do. That is because where the fur is damaged, it’s practically impossible to restore the fur with different one that has the identical shade or stiching style.
Are all fur species this prone to car seats? Unfortunatly yes, they will all get damaged but some are worst than others. Long fur hairs such as foxes and coyotes are the easiest to damage.. They will deteriorate within a few years!
