Bruce Springsteen: The Renowned American Musician, Writer & Performer

The image of the American dream

Bruce Springsteen, an influential American singer-songwriter and musician, was born in 1949 in a little New Jersey town. He made up his mind to be a musician at seven, having seen Elvis Presley’s concert on Television. His parents had been rather poor, and Bruce’s mom had to get a loan to get him a good guitar.

That may be why the main themes of Springsteen’s music are individuals living from hand to mouth and politics. Bruce started performing in 1965. In 1972 he gathered the E Street Band.

Springsteen and the E Street Band worked together for several years, then parted in 1989. Bruce Springsteen is mostly known for his albums Born To Run and Born In the USA. He has multiple Grammys plus an Oscar for the Philadelphia soundtrack.

He is also the inventor of lo-fi music that became the cult genre now amongst indie-rockers.

Springsteen eventually reunited with the E Street Band. In 2007 the artist recorded Magic, his long awaited album with the E Street Band.

Magic: magically good

Magic contains ten new songs by Springsteen and one already heard, Long Walk Home. The first single from the album, Radio Nowhere, is a really touching composition with strong lyrics. Girls In Their Summer Clothes is actually a very good rocky tune with the E Street Band.

Gypsy Byker, has an upbeat romantic melody reminiscent of traveling at high speeds on American highways. Magic, the title song of the album, boasts a superb arrangement and meditative melody, producing a magical atmosphere because of the rhythmical tinkling of the tambourine.

The last track on Magic, Devil’s Arcade, is the only one that deals with politics. It has really strong lyrics and effective images that are certain to leave no one calm. This song provides a perfect insight in Springsteen’s origination and his political views. Moreover, right after listening to it, it leaves every person with a clear view of these questions.

The New masterpiece of the American rock-idol

Magic is the much less politically oriented album by Springsteen within the last decade. The several preceding albums had been dedicated to the protests against George W. Bush as a candidate in the presidential elections, the Iraq War along with the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

The reason of such change is not commented by the musician. Perhaps he just got tired of politics. Magic was recorded in an incredibly amusing way. During two months the E Street Band was recorded on weekends. Springsteen and his Producer Brendan O’Brien worked over the vocals and made the dubbing on weekdays.

It can be said about the outcome that this album is also the most guitar accentuated of all Springsteen’s creativity. As for the sound, there are more romantic and pop moments on Magic that were not typical of Bruce lately, but have been very usual on his very first records.

Anyway, it is an extremely good rock record by Springsteen and his friends from the E Street Band that has great moments. It features a number of the Greatest songs Bruce has ever written.
